Special Recognitions and Presentations

- Representatives from Waukegan to College gave a presentation about the organization and its goals. 

- District leadership gave a presentation celebrating District principals and assistant principals for their continued efforts during the ongoing pandemic.  


Action Items

-The Board of Education voted to retroactively approve the purchases of 40,000 reusable student masks from BSN Sports/ US Games in the amount $129,600.

-The Board of Education voted to approve the revisions to the FY21, FY22 and FY23 School Calendars. The revisions include changing the name of Columbus Day to Indigenous Peoples and Immigrants Day as well as the addition of Juneteenth as a district holiday.

-The Board of Education voted to approve the purchase of 125 Hotspots from T-Mobile with a one-year agreement. These hotspots will be assigned to those students that do not have access to a WiFi internet connection. The cost for 125 hotspots is $30,000.00 for one year of service.

-The Board of Education voted to approve the contract for online essential staff training with McKinney-Vento.org. The annual cost for the agreement is $25,000. This agreement will assist with training district staff on McKinney-Vento services.  It has been reviewed by the district Legal department and will be effective July 2021 through June 2022.

-The Board of Education voted to approve the emergency purchase of personal protective equipment from Chicago-based So-Well Dental Associates, in the amount of $215,267. This agenda item addresses personal protective equipment needs that offer a higher level of protection for staffing groups assisting with door duty, monitoring health stations, working with medically fragile students, and working in situations where maintaining social distance may not be feasible.  

-The Board of Education voted to approve COVID Board Resolution # 8 as recommended by the Administration. This resolution establishes flat rate reimbursements for non-Union staff members, including administrators, who have not otherwise been issued a telephone and/or hot spot by the District or who purchased work related materials or supplies to support remote work on behalf of the District. The rates recommended are in alignment with reimbursement rates afforded to bargaining unit members. The cost estimate of $115,880 is calculated through the end of this school year and reflects a maximum cost consideration, if all administrators were to request full reimbursement for which they are eligible.


Personnel

-The Board of Education voted to approve the appointments, resignations, reclassifications and retirements of 15 employees. 

-The Board of Education voted to approve the position of Professional Development Coordinator. The salary/benefits for the position will be determined by Human Resources and will be based on education, experience, and credentials, in the range of $75,000 - $90,000.

-The Board of Education voted to approve Amendment 14 to the General Counsel's Employment Agreement, which documents Mr. Morris’ satisfactory or better performance since his last evaluation and makes no other revisions to his Employment Agreement.
