Two Waukegan High School students were recently announced as winners of Congressman Brad Schneider’s 10th District Congressional Art Competition.

Seniors Jesenia Solis and Ashley Phillips took first and second place, respectively for their pieces.

Jesenia’s work, titled “Distortion,” will be hung in the U.S. Capitol next year, alongside other winning entries from around the nation. Jesenia was rewarded with two round-trip tickets to Washington, D.C. for the awards ceremony this summer. Ashley’s piece will be displayed in Congressman Schneider’s District office in Lincolnshire.
