Action Items

The Board of Education voted to approve the purchase of a 66-passenger yellow bus and two (2) 14-passenger activity buses. The buses will be used to shuttle between high school campuses, athletics, field trips and other transportation services as needed, at a cost of $147,500.

The Board of Education voted to approve the purchase of Summer school supplemental materials for the Newcomer Program for ELs in the amount of $37,343

The Board of Education voted to approve the renewal of Edmentum/APEX licenses in the amount of $196,347.

The Board of Education voted to Nelson Campos, Principal, to attend the Virtual Aspiring Superintendent Academy for Latino Leaders. The conference dates are from March 1, 2022 to February 28, 2023. The estimated cost is $4,800, which includes registration fee, travel, lodging, and meals per diem.

The Board of Education voted to approve the purchase of 1,400 Apple TVs at a cost of $346,600.

The Board of Education voted to approve the purchase of 800 Chromebooks in the amount of $306,424. The purchase is to complete 1:1 student device swaps for expiring Dell Model 3180 devices. These Chromebooks are also needed for newly enrolled students to the district, as well as Paraprofessional staff.

The Board of Education voted to approve the purchase of network equipment (Core Switches, Cabling, and AT&T Internet) at a cost of $192, 528.

The Board of Education voted to approve the upgrade of the existing Cogent Internet Service Provider (ISP) 500 MB to 5GB bandwidth capacity.  Total cost of $92,400.

The Board of Education voted to approve the purchase of one truckload white paper from Office Depot on contract R141703 for a value of $31,911. 840 Cases/ Truck = $37.99 Case, 10 reams/ Case = $3.799 Ream, 500 Sheets/Ream =$.03799 Per sheet. 


Personnel Items

The Board of Education voted to approve the appointments and resignations of 14 employees, and non renewal of two employees. 

The Board of Education voted to approve the professional development request for Mrs. Amanda Patti to attend the National Principal Supervisor Academy, not to exceed $8,000

The Board of Education voted to approve the professional development request for Catalina Quinones-Nelson and 3 members of the Oakdale Instructional Leadership team to attend the Ron Clark Academy Professional Development Experience not to exceed $7,500.

The Board of Education voted to approve the attendance of Nelson Campos, Principal, and Oscar Dupuy, Climate and Cultural Specialist, to attend the School Climate Conference in Temecula, California on April 25 to April 29. The estimated cost is $3,000, which includes conference registration fee, travel, lodging, and meals per diem.

The Board of Education voted to approve the Attendance of Diverse Learner Social Work Coordinator Bridget Dotson at the 2022 National School Social Worker Conference in Chicago on April 6-9 at a cost of $1,600.

The Board of Education voted to approve Mr. LeBaron Moten, Deputy Superintendent of Operational Supports and Programs to attend the NSBA 2022 Annual Conference and Exposition in San Diego, CA. The dates requested to attend are April 1-3, 2022. The estimated cost is $3500 which includes conference registration fee, lodging, travel and per diem.

The Board of Education voted to approve the hire of four additional safety officers for Waukegan High School's Washington Campus. The Approximate salary for each FTE is $37,457.05 or $149,828.00 which includes salary and benefits.


Information Items

The Board of Education reviewed revisions to the following policies: Policy 5201, Curriculum, and  Policy 5301, Graduation Requirements. These policies are two of the priority Board policies identified by the District's Department Leadership Team for review under the Superintendent's Equitable Policy Initiative.

Staff gave a presentation on a proposed creation of a Director of Logistics & Compliance position.
