As part of our District’s celebration of Black History Month, District 60’s Family and Community Engagement department is partnering with Waukegan-based One Crown Studios to host a Virtual Paint and Celebrate Facebook Live event.

The live event will stream on the District’s Facebook page on February 25, beginning at 5:30 p.m. During the event families will have the opportunity to paint a portrait of Martin Luther King under the guidance of one of the studio’s artists.

To participate, families will need to register here to reserve a paint kit, which will include a canvas with an outline of Dr. King, as well as paints and brushes. Due to limited quantities, only the first 100 registered families will be able to pick up their kits for free. However, additional families who still wish to participate may reach out to [email protected] to purchase a canvas and supplies.

As part of the registration process, families will have the option to choose a time slot between 8 a.m. and 10 a.m. on Tuesday, February 23, as well as 4 p.m. and 6 p.m. on Wednesday, February 24 to pick up their paint kits at the Lincoln Center, 1201 North Sheridan Road.

One Crown Studios is a Black-owned business located in downtown Waukegan. For more information, contact Carolina Fabian at [email protected]
