Special Presentations

-The Board of Education voted to appoint WHS Junior, Isam Hussaini, as the District's newest Student Board Member. Isam will serve through January 2022. 


Action Items

-The Board of Education voted to approve the purchase of student furniture for Miguel Juarez Middle School in the amount of $87,029.39. The quote features huddle desks with casters, and cantilever Flexible student chairs. 

- -The Board of Education voted to pay the adjusted purchase amount to reflect the total contract for the 3-year renewal of Achieve 3000 at the high school level. The amount needed to fulfill the 3-year contract is $121,256.

-The Board of Education voted to authorize the Superintendent to approve the contract with NEIU for Year 2 of the EIR grant in the amount of $82,307. The Board approved the acceptance of the EIR Grant on 11/26/2019.  These are required annual agreements with our partners who are assisting with the implementation of the grant in WPS60 and are paid using grant funds.

 -The Board of Education voted to approve the consulting agreement with RJ Harris and Associates in the amount of $37,300. The consultant will provide training and professional development to the Senior Leadership Team, Board of Education, and other educators in Waukegan aligned to the Superintendent's focus on Equity and Organizational Effectiveness.  Topics include but are not limited to Cultural Awareness, Managing Bias and Inclusion, Leading vs Managing, Emotional intelligence, Communication styles/skills, Establishing trust, Conflict resolution, Relationship building, evolving role of board members, etc.

-The Board of Education voted to approve the consulting agreement with Steve Gering LLC in the amount of $30,000.The consultant will continue the work in supporting the Superintendent’s focus on equity through providing support in developing and facilitating monthly leadership team meetings and providing executive coaching of key district leaders: Superintendent, Deputy Superintendent of Academics, Deputy Superintendent of Operations, Associate Superintendent of Equity, Innovation, and Accountability, and Director of Equity and Inclusion.


Personnel Items

-The Board of Education voted to approve the reclassification of the Alternative Placement Officer from paraprofessional to non-union with base salary not to exceed $46,000 plus benefits.

-The Board of Education voted to approve the appointments, retirements, resignations and retirement extensions of eight employees.
