Special Recognitions and Presentations

-The Board of Education recognized the late Rev. Arthur Gass with a Resolution of Honor in recognition of his service to the Waukegan community.

-The Little Fort Lions Club gave a special presentation detailing some of the organization's work, and they also recognized Board Vice President Rick Riddle’s work with the organization. 


Action Items

-The Board of Education voted to appoint Ms. LaTonya Burton to the District's Ethics Commission for a two year term, ending on November 30, 2022. The Ethics Commission was created pursuant to a Board Resolution of June 8, 2004, and the requirements of 5 ILCS 430/70-5 to consider any complaints pertaining to Gift Ban Act and Prohibited Political Activity issues related to Board members or school employees.  Mr. Martin Walker has decided to step down after 7 years of service.   His term concluded in November, 2020. The other currently serving members of the Commission are Ms. Ennedy Rivera and Ms. June Maguire. 

-The Board of Education voted to renew the contract with the Suburban School Cooperative Insurance Program (SSCIP) for the District’s general liability, property, excess property, school board liability and boiler and machinery insurance for the 2021 calendar year at a cost of $762,218. Currently the Board of Education has its general liability, excess general liability, property, excess property, school board liability and boiler and machinery insurance through the Suburban Cooperative Insurance Program (SSCIP). This pool consists of a group of suburban school entities which can purchase larger amounts of insurance at a lower price with lower deductibles. Waukegan Public School District #60 has been in SSCIP for seventeen years.

-The Board of Education voted to approve the purchase of Newsela student licenses in the amount of $112,000.

-The Board of Education voted to approve the purchase of corrugated & acrylic barriers and mobile dividers from Bolingbrook-based  ELB US Inc, at a cost not to exceed $533,937. The proposed dividers and assorted barriers total to $485,398.00, these numbers are estimated.  Specific quantities will be provided at an upcoming public meeting.  0% was added on to that amount for Shipping as it is not referenced in the quote. 

 

Personnel Items

-The Board of Education voted to approve the addition of 1.0 FTE Special Education Diverse Learner Teacher at Glen Flora Elementary at an estimated cost of $80,000.

-The Board of Education voted to approve the retirement, resignations and appointments of eight employees.
