Cooke Speller Advances To County Bee

Photo of LondonCooke Magnet School fifth grader London Jones will join top spellers from throughout the county when she competes in the Lake County Final Spelling Bee on March 10 at the College of Lake County.

London qualified for the Lake County Bee by winning her school’s competition, and then finishing in the top four at a Sectional Spelling Bee, which was hosted by Carman-Buckner Elementary School on February 20.

London is one of just 12 students to qualify for the CLC competition, which draws competitors from more than 100 elementary and middle schools in the county. The winner of the March 10 competition will earn a trip to Washington D.C. to compete against the top spellers in the United States.
