Van is a student at the WHS-Washington Campus, where he is Cadet 1SG in JROTC, a member of the school’s Drama Club, and the secretary of the Black Student Union.

Van has been a WPS60 student his entire academic career, previously attending Juarez Middle School, as well as Clearview, Little Fort, and Hyde Park Elementary Schools.

Van said one of his primary goals as Student Board Member is to represent all students and ensure everyone has a voice in how the school, and the school district operate.

As a Student Board Member, Van will be given time on each School Board agenda to speak regarding student concerns, curriculum, and activities. He will act as a liaison between the students and school board, gather student concerns and celebrations in a variety of ways, and help communicate important information from the School Board to students.
