Waukegan Community Unit School District # 60 is mourning the loss of Waukegan High School Co-Principal, Dr. Terry Ehiorobo, who passed away suddenly this week. Dr. Ehiorobo worked as Principal of Waukegan High School’s Washington Campus since August 2017.

Prior to joining District 60 and WHS, Dr. Ehiorobo worked as a principal and school superintendent for the American International School in Nigeria. He also spent time with the Wisconsin Department of Public Instruction and Milwaukee Public Schools, and several years with schools in Racine and Kenosha. He was a sought after educational speaker on trauma and bullying and was a published author around trauma, cyber bullying, bullying and family engagement.

“The news of Dr. Terry’s passing is absolutely heartbreaking for our school district, and for the Waukegan High School community,” said Superintendent of Schools, Theresa Plascencia. “In his short time here he made an undeniable impact on so many students and staff members. Dr. Terry’s infectious smile, upbeat demeanor and genuinely caring personality will be sorely missed, and his positive influence on the lives of many Waukegan students will always be remembered.”

Members of the District Mental Health Response Team will be available this week to students and staff members for support and grief counseling services. District and school officials are also available to offer support and assistance.

Funeral and service information will be announced once it becomes available.
