Waukegan Public School District 60 offers a comprehensive benefits package to our employees. Some of the benefits include:

  • Dental Insurance

  • Cafeteria Plan (Section 125)
  • Retirement Plan – with voluntary contributions to 403(b)
  • Paid Sick and Personal Leave

Medical Insurance:

The Waukegan Public School District offers three health insurance plans. The district will pay the single premium for the employee for the plan that is chosen. Dependent coverage may be purchased at various costs.

PPO Plan

The PPO Plan (http://www.bcbsil.com) is a self-insured plan administered by Blue Cross. Please see the Summary of Benefits and Coverage for more details.

HMO Illinois

The district also offers HMO Illinois (http://www.bcbsil.com) as an alternate to the PPO. Please refer to the Summary of Benefits and Coverage for more details.

BlueEdge HSA

The district now offers a High Deductible Health Plan as another alternative to the traditional PPO. Please see the Summary of Benefits and Coverage for more details.

Dental Coverage:

Waukegan School District offers one dental PPO Plan. It is a self-insured plan administered by Blue Cross/Blue Shield. For details, please visit the Dental Benefit Highlights sheet.

Cafeteria Plan (Section 125 Flexible Spending Program):

An added benefit is the district’s Flexible Spending Program.  An employee may take advantage of the pre-tax benefits by using it for:

  • Dependent Care
  • Unreimbursed medical and dental expenses
  • Pre-taxing dependent premiums

The Cafeteria Plan’s open enrollment is in November, and the benefit period is January 1 - December 31.

Employee Assistance Program

The District offers an EAP program through National Insurance Services. The EAP covers a wide range of issues that an employee may be experiencing.

Retirement Plan:

  • IMRF (Illinois Municipal Retirement Fund) http://www.imrf.org/ for non-certified employees.
  • TRS (Teachers Retirement System) for all certified personnel.
