Waukegan Community Unit School District No. 60 will host a District-wide Title I parent meeting on Tuesday, January 17, to present its elementary and secondary Title One Math intervention programs.
The meeting is the third of a four part Title I and No Child Left Behind informational meeting series planned for the 2011/2012 academic year. This meeting will focus on the Title One math interventions being used, and teach parents strategies that they can use at home to help students with math homework, as well as strategies that can be used to help with reading. All parents who attend the meeting will receive take home materials to assist their child at home.
Title I is a federal initiative aimed at improving the academic achievement of disadvantaged school districts. It aims to ensure that all students have a fair and equal opportunity to obtain a high-quality education.
The meeting is open to all parents with children in District 60. The meeting begins at 6:30 p.m. on January 17, at the Welcome Center, 745 W. Greenwood Ave., in Waukegan. Translation services and refreshments will be provided. For more information, contact Ms. Loreta Garcia at 847-599-4246.
