Waukegan Community Unit School District # 60 is issuing this medium to inform parents about two incidents that occurred off school grounds on Friday, October 28, that involved our students.

In two separate incidents, students walking to and from school were approached by unknown men who attempted to talk to them and lure them near their cars. The first incident occurred around 7 a.m. in the 700 block of S. Jackson Street, and the second incident occurred around 3:45 p.m. in the 1300 block of Westmoreland Avenue.

In both incidents students report that an Hispanic male in a gray or greenish blue four-door vehicle stopped to talk to them while they were walking. Students ran away from the suspect without incident in both cases.

Police have been informed of both incidents and are investigating. It is unknown if these incidents are related. All schools in District 60 have also been informed of the incidents, and have been asked to be aware of any suspicious activity.

Parents are asked to please remind their children of the importance of being alert when walking to and from school each morning and afternoon. If parents notice any suspicious activity or persons, they are asked to contact the Waukegan Police Department.
