Press Release: 03-12-2012
Kindergarten registration for Waukegan students for the 2012/2013 school year will be held on Saturday March 17. If your child will be five (5) years old on or before September 1, 2012, he or she is eligible to enroll in kindergarten for the fall, but will be required to register.
The registration event is planned for March 17, from 8:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at Thomas Jefferson Middle School, 600 S. Lewis Ave., Waukegan.
Parents are asked to please bring their child’s original birth certificate, as well as a proof of residency. Proof of residency must include two of the following: a gas or electric bill dated within the past two months, lease or housing contract showing parent’s name and address, and an Illinois Department of Public Aid card. If a parent or guardian lives with someone else, a notarized affidavit letter from that person with a gas or electric bill in that person’s name will be required. No child will be registered without all of the required documentation.
Parents are asked to bring their child's current school physical with a record of immunizations, plus the dental and vision examinations, if available. Registration fee is $75.
Please note that any student who speaks any language other than English will be required to take an English language evaluation. Questions should be directed to the Department for Student Support of Waukegan Public Schools at (847) 599-4228 between the hours of 8 a.m. and 4 p.m.
