Board of Education Ethics Commission
 
       
 

The Ethics Commission consists of  Mr. Torrie Newsome, Chairman; Dr. James Donovan, member; and Ms. Ennedy Rivera, member. They will be formally sworn in on Tuesday night, April 13, 2010 at the Board meeting.

The Commission was created by virtue of the Board's Ethical Conduct Resolution. Adoption of ethics resolutions by local governmental entities, such as school boards, was required by revisions to the State Officials and Employees Ethics Act. The Commission has jurisdiction over complaints concerning alleged violations of the Gift Ban Act and Prohibited Political Activity as more fully detailed in 5 ILCS 430/1-1 et. seq.

During the last several months, the Commission has been developing forms and procedures.  The drafts are available to be downloaded below.  The Commission will be soliciting public comment about the drafts at an open session scheduled for May 12, 2010 at Lincoln Center.
