Press Release: 05-04-2012
Waukegan Community Unit School District # 60 Superintendent, Dr. Donaldo R. Batiste, has been named the “Superintendent of the Year” by the Lake County Superintendents’ Association (LCS). The honor was announced on May 4, during an LCS Executive Board meeting. Dr. Batiste will be formally recognized for this prestigious honor during a special ceremony on May 11.
The Lake County Superintendents’ Association, a professional organization comprised of 55 school Superintendents from around Lake County, annually awards the Superintendent of the Year honor to its most deserving member. Honorees are selected by members of the organization based upon District and professional accomplishments, outstanding leadership, and professional development.
Dr. Batiste, who is currently serving as the President of the Lake County Superintendents’ Association, was selected for the honor from among six nominees.
“I think he’s extraordinary. He is such a gracious, courteous and eloquent leader. We are fortunate to have him in Lake County, and I am sure everyone in Waukegan feels the same way,” said Mrs. Roycealee Wood, Lake County Regional Superintendent of Schools.
Dr. Batiste is currently in his sixth year as Superintendent of Schools in Waukegan, following a successful tenure as classroom teacher, speech pathologist, assistant principal, principal, and associate superintendent in Louisiana.
