Waukegan Community Unit School District # 60 is temporarily increasing the daily rate paid to substitute teachers in an effort to ease a current shortage of substitute teachers in the District.

Effective January 16, Waukegan Schools will increase its daily rate for day-to-day substitute teachers from $85 to $125. The increase will allow the District to better compete with neighboring Districts’ rates, as well as ensure that the highest-qualified individuals are serving the students of Waukegan during the absence of a teacher.

Individuals who are interested in joining the District’s substitute teacher pool can fill out an application by visiting the District 60 website at: www.wps60.org/employment/jobs.php?category=Teaching+-+Substitute.
